The Egg by Andy Weir

This was sent to me by someone who has ordered a custom egg.  I love it and thought I would share it.  I hope you enjoy it as well.

You were on your way home when you died.  It was a car accident.  Nothing particlarly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless.  You left behind a wife and two children.  It was a painless death.  the EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail.  Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.

And that's when you met me.

"what .....what happened?" You asked.  "Where am I?"
"You died." I said, matter-of-factly.  No point in mincing words.
"There was a .......truck and it was skidding...."
"Yup," I said.
"I....I died?"
"Yup, but don't feel bad about it.  Everyone dies," I said.
You  looked around.  There was nothingness,  just you and me.  "What is this place?" You asked.  "Is it the afterlife?"
"More or less," I said
"Are you God?" You asked.
"Yup," I replied.  "I'm God."
"My kids....my wife," you said.  "What about them?"  "Will they be alright?"
"That's what I like to see," I said.  "You just died and your main concern is for your family.  That's good stuff right there."

You looked at me with fascination.  To you, I didn't look like God.  I just looked like som man, or possibly a woman.  Some vague authority figure, maybe.  More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.
"Don't worry, I said.  "They'll be fine.  Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way.  They didn't have time to grow contempt for you.  Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved.  To be fair, your marriage was falling apart.  If it is any consolation, she'll feel very guilty for feeling relieved."

"oh," you said, "So what happens now?  Do I go to heaven or hell or something?"
"Neither,"  I said.  "You'll be reincarnated."
"Ah," you said.  "So the Hindus were right."
"All religions are right in their own way,"  I said.  "Walk with me." You followed along as we strode through the void.
"Where are we going?"
"Nowhere in particular,"  I said.  ""It's just nice to walk while we talk."
"So what's the point then?" you asked.  "When I get reborn, I'll just be a blank slate, right? A baby.  So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won't matter."

"Not so!"  I said.  "You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives.  You just don't rmember them right now."

I stopped talking and took you by the shoulders,  "Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful and gigantic than you can possibly imagine.  A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are.  It's like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it's hot or cold.  You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you've gained all the experiences it had."

"You've been in a human vessel for the last 48 years, so you haven't stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consiousness.  If we hung out here for long enough, you'd start remembering everything.  But there is no point to doing that between each life."

"How many times have I been reincarnated then?"
"Oh lots, lots and lots.  And into lots of different lives"  I said.  "This time around, you'll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 A.D."
"Wait, What?"  You stammered.  "You're sending me back in time?"
"Well, I guess technically.  Time, as you know it, exists only in your universe.  Things are different where I come from."
"Where you come from?" You said.
"Oh sure,"  I explained.  "I come from somewhere.  Somewhere else and there are others like me.  I know you'll want to know what it's like there, but honestly you wouldn't understand."
"Oh" you said, a little let down.  "But wait, If I get incarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point."

"Sure, happens all the time,  and with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you don't even know it's happening."
"So what is the point of it all?"
"Seriously?"  I asked.  "Seriously?  You're asking me for the meaning of life?  Isn't that a little stereotypical?"
"Well it's a reasonable question,"  you persisted.

I looked you in the eye, "The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature."
"You mean mankind?  You want us to mature?"
"No, just you.  I made this whole universe for you.  With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect."
"Just me?  What about everyone else?"
"There is no one else,"  I said.  "In this universe there is just you and me."

You stared blankly at me.  "But all the people on earth....."
"All you.  Different incarnations of you."
"Wait.  I'm everyone!?"
"Now you're getting it."  I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.
"I'm every human being who ever lived?"
"Or who will ever live, yes."
"I'm Abraham Lincoln?"
"And you are John Wilkes Booth too." I added.
"I'm Hitler?"  You aid, appalled.
"And you are the millions he killed."
"I'm Jesus?"
"And you are everyone who followed him."

You fell silent.

"Everytime you victimized someone," I said, 'you were victimizing yourself.  Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you."

You thought for a long time.

"Why?"  you adsked me.  "Why do all this?"
"Because someday, you will become like me.  Because that's what you are.  You are one of my kind.  You are my child."
"Whoa," you said, incredulous.  "You mean I'm a god?"
"No, Not yet.  You are a fetus.  You are still growing.  Once you've lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enought to be born."

"So the whole universe" you said, "it's just........."
"An Egg" I answered.  "Now it's time for you to move on to your  next life"  And I sent you on your way.

Nested Eggs

Check these out.  These are the nests that I make for some of the smaller eggs.  Sometimes for the bigger ones too, however the smaller ones really look sweet all tucked into a natural setting.   Hope you like them!

Eggs-The Seeds of Life

Easter is coming and the signs of Spring are all around us.  So I thought I would share some history on eggs and Easter.

World wide there are creation myths of the whole universe being created from an egg.  Most all ancient cultures held the egg as an emblem of life.  Eggs have been viewed as symbols of new life and fertility through out the ages.  Eggs are the seeds of all life, vessels of creation.

Latin Proverb:  "Omne vivum ex ovo"  "All life comes from the egg"

As a Pagan symbol the egg was considered a salute to Spring or the rebirth of Earth.  The word Easter possibly comes from the Goddess Eastre - The Anglo-Saxon Goddess of Spring who was celebrated every vernal equinox.

The egg was adopted by the early Christians as the "Seed of Life" symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  It represents the grave and life renewed by breaking out of it.

They have been painted dyed, carved and immortalized in gold and gemstones.  We are instinctivly drawn to the shape and feel of eggs and many of us know the feeling of what it is to "hatch" ourselves into something new.  Are we not also vessels of creation?  What is inside us waiting to break free?

I love Spring and all the sacred traditions of this time of year.  May we all, with each breath, hold in our
Vessel of Creation Love and Compassion for each other, our Mother Earth and ourselves.  Holding that breath in sacred space until it is ready and then releasing it into the All.  With this breath in this now present moment, and with every breath,  may we give birth to our authentic selves and honor all Life.  Breaking through the shell, as individuals and collectively to give birth to the beauty within.

Love to all.  Enjoy the Spring.

New eggs

I am still trying to build up my stock of finished eggs.  It is a slow process as they each take a lot of time.  However, I am planning to be a vendor at the Delores Cannon Transformational Conference in June in Arkansas and I will need to have quite a few to fill a booth.

Beth and I are going together and it will be great fun.  I did it last year and it was successful, so I am attempting to do it again and see if I can do even better.  I so enjoyed the "sister time" and I love connecting with my brother-in-law and nieces too.  They live way out there in Texas and we don't get to see eachother that often.  Here are some new eggs......enjoy

Margaret's Creations: Prayers for the "best and highest good"

Margaret's Creations: Prayers for the "best and highest good": "We pray for balance to come in a good way. As systems breakdown, as the Great Earth Mother shakes and alters her orientation to the heave..."

Prayers for the "best and highest good"

We pray for balance to come in a good way.

As systems breakdown, as the Great Earth Mother shakes and alters her orientation to the heavens, her magnetics and her relationship to us, we pray for the ability to support her in her process. We pray for the ability to be in the flow of creation and acknowlege our responsibility in the manifestation of the current situation as co-creators with the Divine. May the innocent be protected and shielded from harm.

We call to the Wisdom Keepers, Earth Keepers of the past, present & future, The Ancient Ones and The Elders of all Nations of all realms, two legged, four legged, winged ones, swimmers, crawlers, standing ones, and stone people, to the Spirits of The Four Directions, to that which is above us and that which is below us, protect and hold our Beloved Mother in a loving embrace. Bring the truth to those in ignorance and in ego. Allow us to continue to sing the song of life.

Great Mystery, you who are know by thousands of names, we surrender.

Amen

Just thoughts

I am headed of to California soon and get to see my daughter, soon to be son-in-law and my sweet, sweet. grandaughter.  I have been thinking a lot lately of the nature of love, family and relationship in general.

So much of my focus is on the feminine aspect of life (natural since I am female) but with the recent events in dealing with the care of my elder father,  I am more and more in tune with the masculine aspect.  Not the outward moving, agressive masculine but the supportive, protective, nurturing masculine.  Divine Father in balance with Divine Mother.  Father energy that is solid, safe and constant.  I am so grateful to have had that in my life and I am equally grateful that my daughter has found that in her chosen partner.

I realize that this has nothing to do with my crafts, however, I believe relationships fall under the heading of  "things that we create".  May each of us create only beauty in our lives through our thoughts, actions and in all our relationships.

Love to all,
May you walk in beauty and create only from love, respect and compassion for all life.

Etsy site in process

I have been diligently plodding away at putting together an Etsy site.  I say plodding because I have limited user skills and it takes me a long time and lots of trial & error to figure things out.  However, I have successfully managed to follow the directions and have actually put it together.  There are only a few eggs posted thus far but more will go up today and, hopefully, by next week I will have the felting and jewelry up as well.

My husband, Raphael, is very proud of me because I have not been leaning on him for help.  He did design the banner for me though as it was way beyond my skill level.

Once it is up and everything is listed I will wait and see if anything actually sells.  I named my storefront CrystalHeartCreation.  I must say, finding a name was one of the hardest things to do because so many options were already taken.

Wish me luck!

It's all about the eggs

Thank you all so much for the comments, questions and encouragement.  I am having a great time doing this and it is, in fact, getting my creativite juices going!  I have finished two new eggs, (they need to be photographed)  have a custom egg all painted and one more ready to start painting.  Hurrah!  Here are some eggs that were done recently.

The first egg is a green duck with pearls and inset with three sapphire stones.  It also has essence of sapphire inside. It is about 2 inches high.

The second egg  is a goose egg set with turquoise.  This one is extra special because it is truly a Medicine Egg.  It holds fur from a white buffalo, stones representing the 4 Directions and energy of Sacred Fire.  It is a larger egg, about 4".  I am not sure who will end up with this egg.  I am holding it back and am just going to wait and see.

The third egg is a little pheasant egg that is about 1"high.  I love doing the small eggs and put just as much energy into them as the bigger ones.  When I have time, I make natural nests for them out of mosses and lichen.  They look so sweet in a natural setting, very magical.

The pink egg is another duck and I put in in this selection because its pink and sparkly.

Egg number 5 is an Emu egg that was a custom order.  It is quite a large egg.  Not as big as an ostrich but almost.  It turned out beautiful.  It has pearls and is inset with quite a lot of Mother of Pearl.

I love doing custom eggs for people.  It is such an honor and it is alway amazing what manifests and comes through for them.  So that's it for now.

Love to all.  Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Fun Fuzzy Friends - Needlefelting

I just love needlefelting.  It is one of my favorite new-found crafts.  It is realitively inexpensive, lightweight, and I can do it while watching a movie.  Although needlefelting can be done as a flat piece, I seem to be drawn to doing more sculptural, three dimensional forms.

I started with animals and have worked my way up to doing dolls.  Love doing dolls.  The Asian cutie pictured above is about 3 1/2" high.  She has a long black braid down her back.  I call the blond doll "Bette Midler".  She is a bigger scale, about 8" and sports an amythest necklace and earrings.  The little woodland lad I call a Hobbit (notice his feet) and he is about 4" as is his sweetheart in the green dress.

My favorite I have done thus far is a doll of Freida Kahlo.  She is the same scale as Bette about 8".  She has hoop earrings and a chunky turquoise necklace.  I am thinking of putting the yellow flowers across the whole front of her bodice, what do you think?

Needlefelting is definately a fun craft.  I am considering teaching a class since I have had several requests and have the space & time to do it.  I'll keep you posted on plans for that.

I have done some felting with a spiritual nature as well.   I call this "Lilith Tree".  It is about 11" high.  The top of the tree is made up of pregnant feminine forms. spirals and faces.  Spirals form at the base of the tree and move upward to form the feminine form of Lilith.  The Tree has one perfect red apple and inside the trunk of the tree, at it's base is a packet that holds the blessings of lavendar, rose, corn, and all the things that I put into the eggs.  The prayers held inside this tree are for the integration of Lilith (wild, untamed and expansive feminine nature) with Eve (nurturing, passive mothering nature) .

Hope you have enjoyed looking at my fuzzy friends.

Goddess Promise Eggs

Goddess Promise Eggs are each unique and carry specific energy and prayers.  The shells used are all organic from free range chickens, ducks, turkeys, & geese.  Occasionally, eggs from other species such as pheasant and quail eggs, emu or ostrich eggs are also used.

Each egg is created as a sacred object and has been smudged with white sage, sung into, and imbued with prayers and affirmations.  Lavendar is placed inside for sweetness, rose petals for beauty, white copal for protection, purification and consecration, frankincense & myrrh for spirituality.  A small piece of snake skin in placed inside for transformation, corn for creativity and mustard seeds for faith and abundance.

The egg is then dedicated with a specific energy and specific prayers that are unique to that particular egg.  It is then sealed and set with stones, pearls, beads, rhinestones or a combination.  A certificate is then typed up numbering the egg and explaning what is inside and why.  Each egg holds a vibration that is intended to facilitate connection to your highest expression of self.

The pictured eggs are: Duck egg with pearls - Duck egg with Turquoise - Duck egg with Sunstones
Goose egg with pearls and Goose egg with Emeralds

I do lots of custom eggs as well.  Working with the eggs and the energy that comes with them is one of my greatest joys.  Each one is a vessel of Creation.

Blessings of light, love and laughter
Margaret
