To be an artist

To be an artist is to be a creator but the act of creation can take many forms.  It is an act of creation to have a clean house, to be a good friend,  parent, or neighbor.  It is an act of creation to be in a yoga practice or to plant and tend a garden.  All of these things are just as rewarding and just as valid as painting a picture, making music or making a hat.  It is what we create within ourselves,  in our relationships with the world and all brothers and sisters that inhabit this Earth with us.  "All My Relations"

To be in balance within myself and with everything in my world (All That Is) is my primary goal and I believe that it is also my primary purpose in the world.  For if I am in balance then that which is around me has the opportunity to be in balance as well.  For me,  listening to Spirit, creating things with my hands and expressing myself through sound keep me in balance.  What keeps you in balance?  What kind of artist are you?

The latest expression of mine takes the form of hats......here are a few of the latest.

I have been creating all sorts of things these days and am having so much fun.  The eggs are a constant and just keep coming although they shift and change in style and theme as the energy moves and changes.  I am still needle felting and have created some pieces that I am quite proud of.  I am so in love with creating with fiber.  It seems so magical to me ....so moving into wet felting was a natural progression.  With some instruction and encouragement from my favorite fiber artist, Tash Wesp, I have expanded my horizons and am now making hats, bags, and lots of felted flowers. (love making roses).

Here are some pics of things that I have made recently.  The hair combs were something I did for a friend who wanted a sparkly for her updo for her son's wedding.  I made two so she could choose.  She chose the one on the right.  It was fun to do and as I love all things that sparkle......I was very happy.  I might make more!

The hats that I have been making are mounting up.  There are so many different styles, shapes and colors.  I have been experimenting with them quite a bit and am very pleased with the results.  I may be a milliner .....who knew!  I am planning to do some hat events when it the weather is a little cooler and people start thinking about keeping their heads and ears warm in a stylish way.  So stay tuned for that.

The last few days have been all about being a grandma.  My grand daughter and I have been constructing a fairy village in our yard.  It is going to be so great.  She is really into it (as am I) and we are loving how it is turning out so far.  I will post some pics as I get to it.

That's about it from me.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to everyone.
